Integrating IBM watsonx.governance on IBM Cloud with Governance console

The Governance console is not automatically provisioned when you provision watsonx.governance. To use the Governance console, you must provision an instance of OpenPages and an administrator must integrate it with an instance of watsonx.governance.

Before you begin

Note: This topic is about integrating with OpenPages as a Service. If you're using OpenPages on Cloud or OpenPages traditional on-premises, see Integrating with watsonx.governance in the OpenPages documentation.
Required services
Required access policies
  • Administrator level access to the watsonx.governance instance.
  • Administrator and OpenPages User level access to the OpenPages instance.

The account owner or an administrator can set these access policies. For more information, see What are IAM policies and who can assign them?

About this task

To integrate Governance console in IBM watsonx with watsonx.governance, an administrator must follow these steps:
  1. Get the API key and fixed URL.
  2. Assign the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile.
  3. Connect watsonx.governance to OpenPages.

Watch the following video to learn how to integrate OpenPages and watsonx.governance.

This video provides a visual method to learn the concepts and tasks in this documentation.

Getting the API key and fixed URL

You need an API key to connect the OpenPages service with the watsonx.governance service. Also, get the fixed URL that you need to set up watsonx.governance.

Procedure

  1. To create an API key to connect the OpenPages service with watsonx.governance, follow these steps:
    1. In IBM Cloud, go to Manage > Access (IAM) > API keys.
    2. Create an API key.
    3. Copy the API key. You need it later.
Click Download to download the API key for future use.
    4. Close the dialog box.
  2. To get the OpenPages fixed URL, follow these steps:
    1. Navigate to your OpenPages instance.
    2. Click Environment.
    3. In the Fixed URL section, click Copy Copy icon to save the URL for later.

Assigning the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile

In OpenPages, the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile must be on your list of allowed user profiles and the profile must be your current profile.

Procedure

  1. Launch OpenPages.
  2. Click Administration menu > Users and Security > Users and select your username.
  3. In Allowed user profiles, select watsonx.governance MRG Master profile.
  4. Select watsonx.governance MRG Master from the Current profile list.
  5. Click Save. The changes take effect immediately.

Connecting watsonx.governance to OpenPages

To connect watsonx.governance to OpenPages, use the fixed URL to your OpenPages instance and your API key.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to your watsonx.governance instance and launch watsonx.governance.
  2. Click Navigation Menu Navigation Menu icon and AI Governance > AI use cases.
  3. Click > Manage Settings > General > Governance console and click Setup
    1. Enter the URL that you copied in step 2 of Getting the API key and fixed URL and the API key that you copied in step 1 of Getting the API key and fixed URL.
    2. Select an inventory.

When users create use cases, they are created in this inventory.

Your name appears automatically as the Default owner, but you can select a different user. New use cases are owned by the Default owner.

    3. Click Apply.
Governance console (IBM OpenPages) integration is enabled.
  4. On the Manage page, enable the integration.
  5. Set up the integration in Governance console.
    1. Launch Governance console.
    2. Verify that you are using the watsonx.governance MRG Master profile.
    3. Click Administration menu > Integrations > watsonx.governance.
    4. Enter the API key that you created in Getting the API key and fixed URL.
    5. Test the connection, and then click Save.
